A. SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Under the direction of the Day Treatment Coordinator, the Day Treatment Counselor is to provide counseling, case management, advocacy, conduct crisis intervention and provide support services to substance dependent persons, families, juveniles and other persons in accordance with established AADAP Outpatient policies and procedures.
B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (100%):
- DIRECT SERVICES (50%):
- Manage caseload as assigned.
- Conduct diagnostic assessment and develop treatment plan.
- Implement treatment plan to include: individual, group, and family counseling services.
- Coordinate support services
- FILE REVIEW SYSTEM (40%):
- Submit a Monthly Caseload Summary to the unit Coordinator.
- Maintain accurate documentation of treatment and other services in accordance with Federal, State, County and AADAP guidelines
- As appropriate, submit other records such as Service Summary Forms, Group Recordings, Service Fee Records and others.
- STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING (5%)
- Participate in Case Conference and related training as directed by the unit Coordinator.
- PERFORM OTHER FUNCTIONS AS ASSIGNED (5%):
- Act as agency liaison and client advocate to referring agencies.
- Perform other job-related functions and assist other units as assigned.
C. QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES):
- REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year college education related to field or equivalent work experience related to field.
- Permanent resident or U.S. Citizen; proof of work eligibility upon hiring.
- Valid California Drivers License and current automobile liability insurance.
- Must have at least three (3) years of recovery or a drug free lifestyle as of the date of application.
- Must be able to work with people of diverse cultural, educational, social, and economic backgrounds.
- Must be able to perform Word and Excel application.
- Recent physical examination and TB test necessary upon hiring.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA Degree in Social Welfare, Psychology or other treatment-related field with at least two years job related experience, or Drug and Alcohol certificate with at least five years experience in a job-related field.
- State Approved alcohol and other drug certifications.
- Experience in Drug and Alcohol treatment.
- Experience in working with chemically dependent women, children and families.
- Knowledge and familiarity with Asian Pacific Islander language and culture.
