Consequences of Choice

Author: Kittie P.,
Drug Court Graduate 2001

Born African American Women, in the year of 1963,

Who would have known what my capabilities could be!

Nobody, but God himself who held the key, and kept me safe.

Raised in the streets of L.A. also known as the City of Angels,

With ancestors who never gave up on me, and new my capabilities,

But I didn’t listen to them. I choose to do things differently,

I did things my way! Which led to drug abuse, jail,

Insecurities, and a blank existence to society,

Only through the grace of God do I stand before you today.

Drug-Free and a contribution to society, also a scholar at The Great Philander Smith College.

Earnestly working on my Bachelors Degree!

I choose not to fight with God today and his will for me!

And that’s the only reason I stand here bestowing my testimony.

Hold on to your dreams and continue to be all that you can be.

He has a will for each and every one of us. We solely have to be still, be faithful and follow his lead.

You have nothing without God in your life

Find your calling and be free!

AADAP and the Inglewood Municipal Court have combined forces to form the Inglewood Drug Court . It is a non-adversarial team approach to treatment involving the Drug Court Commissioner, the prosecutor, the defense attorney, and AADAP treatment staff. Successful participation and completion of the program results in the dismissal of drug charges. Failure to complete the program results in the resumption of criminal proceedings and the defendants’ incarceration.
