Targeting the South Bay Area of Los Angeles County, organizers mobilize community members to take action against substance abuse and other related issues.

Languages: Tagalog, Vietnamese, Korean, and Chinese

 

Programs:

  • Asian Advocates for Community Empowerment (AACE): leadership development and drug free event organizing at Leuzinger HS in Lawndale
  • Project Choice: HIV/substance abuse prevention campaign and risk reduction program for college students
  • Carson Student Movement: leadership development and advocacy training resulting in annual alcohol and drug awareness campaigns for Carson HS students
  • Vietnamese American Youth United (VAYU): leadership development, cultural awareness, and drug free event organizing for Leuzinger HS and North Torrance HS students
  • Gardena HS Task Force: leadership development, substance abuse and school safety youth advocacy for Gardena HS students
  • Young Empowered Advocates for Health (YEAH) : is a high school advocacy group that organizes around substance abuse issues in Cerritos ; currently campaigning for a local ordinance on smoke-free parks
  • Community Action Development: awareness & policy campaigns for smoke free parks, alcohol, tobacco and other drug information workshops/seminars
